Name of animal: The Giant Panda
Where it lives: It lives in bamboo forests on the mountains of southwest of China.
Food: It eats bamboo plants
How many left: There are only about 1,000 left in the wild.
Why endangered: Today, peoplel live in the valleys in between the mountains. Because pandans are shy and don't go near people, they can't reach new food sources and they often starve to death.
Solution: Some organisations are trying to build special "bamboo corridors" for the pandas to move from mountain to mountain without meeting people.
